Electric vehicles catching fire is something we have been seeing in the news, and it is worrying. However, this has overshadowed a problem that existed before EVs became popular — supercars catching fire. A lot of cases were reported around the world, and in most cases, the fire was caused by human error.
A recent incident from Bengaluru has literally reignited the topic, as a Lamborghini was in flames. The car in question is a Lamborghini Aventador, with a price tag of Rs 9 crore, as per reports.
The Lamborghini Aventador was seen in flames in Bengaluru last evening, and the visuals quickly circulated on the internet. The car was reportedly owned by a popular social media influencer named Sanjeev, or better known by his Instagram handle, Nimma Mane Maga Sanju. The video shows the car on fire towards the rear section, where the engine is mounted.
The video also shows people and eyewitnesses trying to douse the flame using various methods, water, a fire extinguisher, and even sand. However, one thing to note here is that no one was hurt or injured in the incident. While some reports suggest that the car was completely gutted because of the fire, Sanjay has confirmed that the car was on fire, but no serious damage happened to the vehicle.
There is no news about what actually caused the fire, but the internet had its reactions. Business tycoon and car enthusiast, Gautam Singhania, shared the reel on his Instagram account and said, “This time in Bengaluru. This isn’t a “rare incident” anymore. It’s a pattern. Why is Lamborghini silent??? Why are their cars catching fire??? Are their cars safe??? Should they be allowed in India???”
While most such cases are owing to modifications, some have even been the cause of extreme temperatures the cars endure. The engine produces a lot of heat, and sitting in traffic without passive cooling can also cause such fires. However, we will not be concluding on what the cause was, and we will leave it to Lamborghini to officially come up with a statement.
