Vietnam ranked third in a list of five Asian countries with the highest number of repeat visitors after Japan and Thailand, according to online travel platform Agoda.

Malaysia and Indonesia rounded out the top five, based on booking data on Agoda from the first half of the year.

Da Nang has entered the top 10 most revisited cities in Asia for the first time, after no Vietnamese city made the list in 2024.

The coastal city now stands among Asia’s most magnetic destinations, reflecting the growing appeal of Vietnam’s diverse travel experiences, according to Agoda.

Within Vietnam, the five most revisited destinations are Da Nang, Nha Trang, Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, and Phu Quoc Island.

Vu Ngoc Lam, country director at Agoda, said from vibrant urban hubs to stunning coastal escapes, Vietnam offers experiences that keep visitors coming back.

The number of foreign visitors to Vietnam in the first seven months of this year reached 12.2 million, up 23% year-on-year but still lower than Thailand’s 19.2 million.

Mainland China remained the top source market during the period, with 3.1 million arrivals, a 45% year-on-year increase, followed by South Korea (2.5 million), Taiwan (736,000), the U.S. (521,000), and Japan (449,000), according to the General Statistics Office.

The rest of the top 10 were Cambodia (401,000), India (387,000), Australia (323,000), Russia (315,000) and Malaysia (303,000).
