Delhi Traffic Advisory: Mehrauli-Mahipalpur Road Diverted After Wall Collapses Under Masoodpur Flyover

Delhi Traffic Advisory:  The Delhi Traffic Police on Saturday evening issued an advisory, urging commuters travelling from the Mehrauli side towards Mahipalpur to take an alternate route via Aruna Asaf Ali Marg to avoid inconvenience. The traffic police further urged the commuters to avoid the affected stretch and follow the directions given by the traffic police personnel deployed in the area. The traffic advisory came hours after a Delhi Metro wall collapsed under the Masoodpur Flyover near Vasant Kunj.

“A wall of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation’s under-construction underground site near D-6, Vasant Kunj, under the Masoodpur Flyover, has collapsed. As a result, a portion of the Mahipalpur-Mehrauli Road, from Fortis Hospital towards Mahipalpur, has caved in,” Delhi Traffic Police wrote in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

Following the wall collapse, the Delhi Traffic Police issued an advisory stating, “Commuters travelling from the Mehrauli side towards Mahipalpur are advised to take the alternate route via Aruna Asaf Ali Marg, from Fortis Hospital, Vasant Kunj to reach Mahipalpur and avoid the affected stretch.”

Seven Killed In Wall Collapse In Delhi Amid Heavy Rain

In another instance of wall collapse in Delhi’s Jatipur, as many as seven people, including three men, two women and two children, were killed, while eight were rescued and sent to AIIMS Trauma Centre and Safdarjung Hospital for primary care.

Following the incident, the Delhi Police registered a complaint under relevant sections and launched a probe into the matter.

Heavy Rain In Several Parts Of Delhi

Delhi received heavy to very heavy rainfall on Friday evening, which continued till Saturday morning, leading to traffic congestion and waterlogging in several areas, including Panchkuian Marg, Mathura Road, Shastri Bhawan, RK Puram, Moti Bagh and Kidwai Nagar.

Several airlines, including IndiGo and Air India, issued advisories for passengers warning of potential flight delays due to heavy rain. Over 300 flights were cancelled, and four were cancelled on Saturday, FlightRadar24 reported.
