Lucknow : In the monsoon session of the UP Assembly, the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report of different departments (CAG) report has revealed large-scale irregularities in different departments. During the tenure of Mayor Samyukta Bhatia, the matter of providing unfair advantage to Messrs Ecogreen Energy Private Limited has been revealed. From January 2018 to March 2022, the firm introduced a bill of Rs 215.89 crore, but after verification the environment engineer paid only Rs 169.21 crore. The CAG found that the amount of waste in the bills was exaggerated by arbitrarily.In addition, waste processing plants at Shivri (Lucknow) remained closed for 409 days between September 2019 and October 2020. During this period, the firm was fined Rs 39.74 crore, but the corporation paid Rs 5.28 crore to the firm. The CAG has recommended action against the officials responsible for this wrong payment. According to the CAG report, Uttar Pradesh ranks second in terms of road length in the country, where there is a network of 4,42,907 km of roads. Of these, 2,98,242 km of roads were under the Public Works Department (PWD) till January 2023.From 2016-17 to 2022-23, Rs 7,257.86 crore was spent on road development from the Central Road Fund, but 78 percent of the work was completed from 59 to 1,474 days from the scheduled time. In the absence of traffic survey and scheme, PWD took care of the identity and priority of roads. Traffic calculations were not done according to the standards of the Indian Road Congress, but were based on symbolic standards. Financial management also found flaws. Rules were violated in the tender process. Tenders were invited before the acceptance of the works and short -term information was released. Also, emphasis has been laid on transparency in road construction and compulsory traffic survey. These revelations have challenged the state government for reform. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna said that the CAG report has been placed on the floor of the House and whatever recommendation is, further action will be taken on the basis.
