Pakistani actress Sonya Hussyn, celebrated for her stunning looks and powerful performances in dramas like Too, Ishq zahe naseeband currently Masoom recently marked her birthday with a grand party that has stirred heated reactions on social media.

The star-studded event included family, friends, and fellow celebrities such as Mansha Pasha, Omer Alam, Zhalay, Aijaz Aslam, and Hasan Rizvi. Sonya impressed guests with two glamorous outfits—a glittery baby pink off-shoulder gown and an army green off-shoulder dress worn during the cake-cutting ceremony.

However, it was Sonya’s energetic dance performances, especially one with Raza Moosave (Director Programming and Strategy at Green Entertainment), on the Bollywood hit Larki Beautiful Kar Gai Chullthat caught widespread attention—and sparked backlash. Videos of the bold dance moves quickly circulated on social media, prompting a wave of criticism from viewers.

Many comments reflected disappointment and concern over the timing and nature of the celebration. Some viewers criticized the act as inappropriate, especially during Ramadan and amidst ongoing global crises, like the suffering in Gaza. One user remarked, “Qayamah (Day of Judgment) will tell why it was needed,” while another lamented, “After entering showbiz, people forget they are Muslims—it’s a pity.” Others accused social media influencers of promoting “bad deeds” and questioned the sensitivity of such public displays given the current hardships faced by many.

Despite the criticism, Sonya Hussyn’s birthday bash showcased a joyous moment for the actress and her close circle. The controversy, however, highlights the ongoing debate in Pakistan over celebrity conduct, cultural values, and the role of public figures in society.

Sonya has not yet responded publicly to the backlash, but her fans continue to defend her choice to celebrate freely. This incident adds to the complex discussion about freedom of expression and societal expectations in Pakistan’s entertainment industry.
