Lucknow/New Delhi: Astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla of Lucknow returned to India from America on Sunday morning. He was welcomed by Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh and Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta at Delhi Airport. His father Shambhu Dayal Shukla was also present on the occasion.
Shubhanshu is planning to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi today. Subsequently, he will go to Bangalore and participate in ISRO’s International Space Day celebrations on 23 August. His homecoming is likely to be in Lucknow on 25 August. Expressing happiness, his mother said, “He can be a celebrity for the world, but for me he will always be my little son. He is eagerly waiting for him to come.”
Shubhanshu flew to India from George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Texas on 16 August. He wrote on social media – “Just go on, there is a life car, the time is the wheel. I have eager to reach my country.”
It is worth noting that four astronauts including Shubhanshu Shukla under Exium Mission-4 left for the International Space Station (ISS) on 25 June. He reached ISS at 4:01 pm Indian time on 26 June. After spending 18 days there, on 15 July, he returned to the California coast with a safe landing.
