Vizing. Yujan Technology, a subsidiary of Foxconn, has withdrawn about 300 Chinese engineers from its India unit. This is the second time in recent times when this Taiwanese Group has had to do so. Investment and production schemes in Tamil Nadu

Yujan Technology is setting up a display module assembly unit at Tamil Nadu at a cost of Rs 13,180 crore. Foxconn said in a stock exchange filing in May that it would invest $ 1.5 billion to its Yuzan unit to transfer more iPhone outpatient outside China amid high threats of US import duty. Foxconn has recently invested $ 1.48 billion in its India unit.
Causes and impacts

The accurate reasons behind the return of engineers have not been made public, but it is believed that it may be associated with the widespread strategy of China’s technology transfer and the export of advanced manufacturing devices.

The move fears the impact of the iPhone assembly lines on the major manufacturing units of Foxconn in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, especially before the launch of the iPhone 17 in the coming months. However, government officials say that this will not affect mobile production in India and should be seen as an opportunity.
Round of India-China relations

This incident has occurred at a time when India and China have gone through an important diplomatic re-set in recent weeks. The two countries have agreed to reduce border tension, resume direct flights and re -establish commercial relations by taking measures to improve commercial and diplomatic relations. It has also been agreed to investigate business cooperation in strategic fields like Rare Earth Material.

Apple’s impact on India goals

Foxconn is a major construction partner of Apple and the move may have a significant impact on the ambitious plans of Apple’s expansion of its manufacturing foot print in India.

In FY 2024–25, Apple created a $ 14 billion-worth iPhone in India through Foxconn, Patron and India’s Tata group features, which represents Rafli one of each seven iPhones produced on global labels. From March to May 2025, Foxconn exported 97% of the iPhones manufactured in India to the US market.
Foxconn plans

However, Foxconn has prepared the contingency plans, fearing such updates. The company is now bringing engineers from Taiwan and elsewhere to limit disruption and keep its India operations on track. A government official said that Apple has options and production will not be affected.
