Film industry star Mohanlal received Villaambar Patrika Samman in the temple

Malayalam cinema icon Mohanlal was honored with Villaambar Patharika by Gauri Parvatibai, Gauri Laxmibai and Aditya Verma at the Sri Padmanabhaswamy Temple in Thiruvananthapuram. The formal proclamation marked the beginning of centuries -old Murjapam and Lakshdeepam rituals. Mohanlal inaugurated the traditional Murjapam lamp in East Nada, inaugurated the 56 -day Vedic chanting festival lasting from 20 November, 2025 to 14 January, 2026, which will conclude in Laxdeepam, where one lakh oil lamps will illuminate the temple on Makar Sankranti.

Expressing gratitude, Mohanlal called it “blessings of Lord Padmanabhaswamy”, which reflects his father’s relationship with the temple as a former government official. The ritual launched by Martand Verma outlines the devotion of the Travancore royalty to Lord Vishnu, the current trustee, Moolm Thirunal Ram Verma, maintains this legacy.
