Netflix viewers will be adding this crime drama to their lists after fans describe it as "the best original ever created" for the platform. Ozark is a crime drama television series created by Bill Dubuque and Mark Williams. It stars Jason Bateman and Laura Linney as Marty and Wendy Byrde. Bateman also serves as a director and executive producer for the series.

The series synopsis reads: "Ozark is a Netflix series about financial advisor Marty Byrde (Jason Bateman), who is forced to relocate his family to the Missouri Ozarks to launder money for the Mexican drug cartel after his business partner steals from them. To save his family, Marty must set up a large-scale money laundering operation in five years, becoming entangled with local criminals, including the powerful Snell and Langmore families. The series follows the Byrdes as they navigate the dangerous criminal underworld of the Ozarks while trying to keep their family life together, leading to escalating violence and power struggles with the cartel and rival criminals."

Upon its release, the series was met with generally positive reviews, but it has grown in popularity as each of the four seasons has landed on Netflix. The third season is often highlighted as the best and its 98% rating on Rotten Tomatoes reflects that.

The critics' consensus states: "Ozark finally finds its footing in a third season that ramps up the tension and shines a brighter spotlight on Laura Linney's exceptional performance."

Often compared to Breaking Bad, fans have hailed the series, with one fan writing on a Reddit thread that Ozark is "the best Netflix original ever created".

One reviewer said: "Definitely, one of best TV shows about mafia on Netflix. Events unfold slowly, but with enormous progress and cruelty. Each character plays their role on final. The most important thing in Ozark its relationships between family, when children grow up and see what their parents do.

"As a result, the children's consciousness breaks down and they will begin to imitate their parents."

"I know it hasn't been long since it ended but I already miss Ozark. This show absolutely, without a doubt, lives up to all the hype it gets.

"It's a gripping thriller where the tension continues to build throughout each episode and each season and then pays off in a huge way.

"It really is a must watch show. People like to compare it to Breaking Bad and while I don't agree with that comparison because BB is the better show, Ozark is still terrific and worth every second," another added.

Ozark is available to stream on Netflix.
