The Asia Cup 2025 is just around the corner, but a pressing question looms: Who will be the new sponsor for Team India’s jersey? Recently, the fantasy sports company Dream 11 ended its partnership with the BCCI. This decision comes in light of the new online gaming promotion and regulation bill set to take effect in 2025, which imposes restrictions on real money gaming platforms, prompting Dream 11 to withdraw.
Dream 11 had secured a deal worth ₹358 crores with the BCCI for the period from 2023 to 2026. When combined with the sponsorship for the IPL and Team India, Dream 11 and My11Circle contributed nearly ₹1000 crores. However, due to the impending online gaming bill, the BCCI has terminated its agreement with Dream 11 and is now on the lookout for a replacement.
According to reports, an emergency meeting of the BCCI's Apex Council was held on August 28, chaired by acting president Rajeev Shukla. The meeting focused on potential new sponsors, but it was concluded that there might not be enough time to finalize a deal before the tournament begins.
Meanwhile, Japanese automobile manufacturer Toyota and a fintech startup have expressed interest in sponsoring the Indian team’s jersey, but the official process has yet to commence. The BCCI is taking a strategic approach, preferring to secure a long-term deal that would last until the 2027 ODI World Cup rather than rushing into a short-term agreement.
Currently, it is anticipated that Team India will take the field during the Asia Cup without any sponsor logos on their jerseys, displaying only the name of the country.
