Season 1 of 'Dexter: Resurrection' is coming to an end as the revival series of the famous show has yet to be officially renewed by Paramount.. Now viewers are eager to know whether Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 is renewed or canceled by Paramount+.

Created by Clyde Phillips, the crime drama series centers on Dexter Morgan as he recovers from a fatal gunshot suffered in the prequel series. Morgan then tries to track down his missing son, while Captain Angel Batista is on a mission to capture them. As the series nears its end, many are eager to know the fate of the show.

Dexter: Resurrection episode 10 finale

Dexter: Resurrection reached a pivotal turning point with its Season 1 penultimate episode, “Touched by an Ángel,” and expectations are now sky-high as the series motors toward its dramatic finale. In a gut-wrenching twist during the August 29 episode, long-standing character Angel Batista (David Zayas) meets a tragic end. Strapped to Dexter’s infamous kill table, Batista is spared by Dexter—but then executed by the villainous Leon Prater, played by Peter Dinklage.

Zayas revealed that he was aware of Batista’s fate from the series’ outset. He described the development as “bittersweet,” yet narratively essential—and reflected with pride on his two-decade portrayal of the character.

Prater’s manipulative dominance was on full display. He forces Dexter into an impossible moral dilemma: kill Batista to join his corrupt network of killers or lose everything. Dexter ultimately refuses, setting off the deadly sequence that kills Batista. The episode ends with Dexter imprisoned and vulnerable, leaving fans anxious about his fate—and that of his son Harrison.

Set to air on Friday, September 5, the Season 1 finale titled “And Justice For All…” promises to escalate the conflict further. According to official previews, the episode will spotlight Charley’s crumbling loyalty to Prater and a climactic showdown between Dexter and Harrison as they face the fallout of their darkness.

'Dexter: Resurrection for Season 2' has been cancelled?

According to Yahoo Entertainment, Dexter: Resurrection is reportedly renewed for not just Season 2 but also Season 3. Variety and Entertainment Weekly reported that Paramount plans "to open a writers room for a potential Season 2 of 'Dexter: Resurrection.'" But there has been no greenlight for a renewal yet.

Multiple factors are at play which influence the renewal of a series, including financial viability, audience reception, viewership, overall performance, and cast availability. This series has received generally favorable reviews from critics. It has been praised for its chaotic yet suspenseful storytelling, strong cast performances, and exploration of the complex psyche of a morally flawed individual.

Premiered in July, it received 3.1 million global cross-platform viewers in its first three days. Given its viewership and reception, renewal was likely. Industry insider Daniel Richtman confirmed that Seasons 2 and 3 are in development.

In a conversation with Collider, the interviewer asked creator Clyde Phillips and writer/producer Scott Reynolds about how many seasons they intend to make for the show. Phillips mentioned that it would be up to the main lead, Michael C. Hall, for how long he remains committed.

He also mentioned that Hall is willing to do multiple seasons. Reynolds revealed that when they were developing the show, they pitched three seasons to Hall. He also mentioned that the show can “continue on” for more seasons if everyone involved is committed.
