Nowadays, it has become very common to get food online. But recently a case came to light which has forced many people to think. A customer posted on social media that the food he ordered he ordered was about 80% more than buying food directly from the restaurant. That is, the food which was worth Rs 810 in the restaurant, the same is Rs 1,473 on Swigy. This big difference is shocking for the people.

Big difference in the price of every item

Questioning Swiggy, the customer wrote in his post, 'Ordering food from the@Swiggy app, why is 81% expensive than buying the same food from the same outlet located just 2 km away? Is this the real price of the service? I have to pay an additional 663 rupees to deliver food.

The customer compared the prices of four things. The restaurant bill of 10 parathas was Rs 180, while it was Rs 350 on Swiggy. Chicken was Rs 150 in 65 restaurants, but it was Rs 240 on the app. Chicken Lollipop's plate was Rs 200 in the restaurant while Rs 320 on the app. Similarly, chicken Thokku Biryani was also being sold for Rs 460 instead of Rs 280 on Swiggy. The big thing is that this difference was not only due to delivery fee, but due to the increase in the prices of platform and restaurant itself.

What did social media users say?

On this matter, a user said that these companies charge more because they occupy the market. Other companies are not able to stand compared to Swigy and Zomato. Many people said that the restaurants only increase the prices of the online menu, and Swiggy adds its delivery fees. Some users believe that if the restaurants start delivery themselves, the prices of food may be reduced.

Why online order prices increase?

Food delivery apps like Swiggy and Jomato say that they do not fix the prices themselves. Restaurants have the freedom to keep online and offline prices separately. This means that restaurants fix a higher price for online order. Apart from this, apps also add their service fees and delivery charge. In this way, food online becomes expensive.
