Ronnie O'Sullivan linked up with Saudi Arabia last year after signing a three-year ambassadorial agreement with the nation. And the details of the deal have now emerged.

O'Sullivan is widely regarded as one of the most talented snooker players in the history of the sport and has won the World Snooker Championship a joint-record seven times. He was in Saudi Arabia at the end of last year as he featured in the Riyadh Snooker Championship, where he lost to Mark Allen in the semi-finals. And he went on to bank a whopping £200,000 in August after losing to Neil Robertson in the final of the Saudi Arabia Snooker Masters.

O'Sullivan's agreement with Saudi Arabia is said to be the most lucrative sponsorship deal in snooker history. And details of the agreement have been revealed in a new Netflix series called Matchroom: The Greatest Showmen.

The series features Matchroom Sport chairman Eddie Hearn, who played a key role in securing the multi-million deal for O'Sullivan.

The union will see the 49-year-old make special trips to Saudi Arabia to "coach and foster aspiring talent." The deal also stipulates that O'Sullivan will play at all World Snooker Tour events in the kingdom.

And footage from the Netflix documentary shows Hearn discussing the 20-point gold ball with O'Sullivan ahead of the inaugural World Masters of Snooker in Riyadh.

"I think these guys could be huge in snooker," Hearn explains to O'Sullivan. "This tournament, the 167, this is a big deal for us. And it could be a big deal for you. And I'm here to make you happy."

Hearn then tells viewers: "It's all about having someone that can speak to Ronnie and just make sure that he feels valued."

In another clip, the boxing promoter says: "The key for us is locking Ronnie's fee for playing the tournament."

And in a third clip he adds: "I said to him, 'You're an asset to snooker, you're an asset to the Tour. You need to be rewarded. I'm going to get you a big deal here.'"

Hearn then reveals: "Ronnie knows that the eyes and the money of Saudi Arabia are watching him closely. If he can win, it's going to put him in a great position to move forward with this whole new business relationship."

O'Sullivan later addresses viewers to offer his thoughts on Hearn and his father Barry. And the Rocket explains: "I just think Eddie just sees it as the bigger picture, you know. I think Barry's very stuck in what was okay back in the 1980s and 90s. Eddie's the more up-to-date version if you like."
