Rourkela: In a tragic incident, two brothers were killed after being hit by a passenger train while crossing the railway tracks in Odisha’s Rourkela.
The deceased have been identified as Ranjan Patra (18) and his younger brother Jagan Patra (15) of Haripur Basti in Basanti Colony. The incident reportedly took place around 9.30 pm on Tuesday.
Sources said the two had gone to Uditnagar on Tuesday evening to bring their sister home from a mobile shop. After dropping her off at their residence, they went to Uditnagar again to repair a mobile phone. While returning home, they were trying to cross the railway line when the train hit them.
A team of Government Railway Police (GRP) visited the spot, seized the bodies which were sent to Rourkela Government Hospital (RGH) for post-mortem.
As per locals, Ranjan was working at a hotel in Uditnagar, while his sister worked at a nearby shop. His younger brother Jagan was a student of Class IX in Uditnagar Government High School.
