New Delhi: Team Indias star pacer Jasprit Bumrah has reflected on facing Pakistan for the third time in the Asia Cup 2025. India easily chased down targets set by Pakistan in both the group stage and Super 4 clash during the tournament.
When Bumrah was questioned about playing against Pakistan three times in the same tournament Bumrah replied with a single word interesting.
It has been exciting. Not very often in a multinational tournament you play one opposition three times so interesting is the word for me Jasprit Bumrah told the broadcaster ahead of the toss.
Any game you start from zero. You start with confidence but you do not go too high or too low. We only focus on our teams our strengths our combinations we do well. If we look at the other team it does not work well he added.
India entered Asia Cup 2025 final unbeated
India entered the final unbeaten while Pakistan has suffered two defeats both at the hands of India.
Bumrah talked about his responsibility of bowling during the Powerplay explaining that the team management wanted him to bowl early in the innings. He added that this takes him back to his early international career in 2016 when he had a similar role.
It is a different role. The team has wanted to use me up front. Something that is very new for me as well. Not used to doing this role. Remember doing it in 2016 when I first came into the side. Trying to contribute to the best of my ability Bumrah said.
Bumrah was rested for two games
During the Asia Cup tournament Bumrah was rested for two games. He discussed how the Indian Premier League (IPL) has affected players confidence and also shared his thoughts on the T20 format
In this format you do not look at reputation. IPL has helped a lot. Youngsters in our team are confident and they know they are very good Bumrah said.
Pakistan posted a modest target of 146 runs in the Final
Talking about the final clash between Pakistan started strongly as Sahibzada Farhan and Fakhar Zaman played a brilliant knock of 57 and 46 respectively. Despite a strong start Pakistan lost momentum in the latter half of the innings and managed to post a modest target of 146 runs.
India struggled at the start of the run chase as in-form batter Abhishek Sharma was dismissed by Faheem Ashraf and both Shubman Gill and Suryakumar Yadav getting out cheaply.
Tilak Varmas exceptional knock helped India secure a thrilling victory
Sanju Samson and Shivam Dube delivered key contribution in the middle order while Tilak Varmas outstanding knock helped India secure a thrilling five-wickets victory over Pakistan.
