Cybercrime in India’s major metros has risen sharply, showing both concentration and divergence, according to the National Crime Records Bureau’s (NCRB) 2023 data. The latest report shows that the number of cyber offences across 19 large cities jumped 39% in a single year, from 24,420 in 2022 to nearly 34,000 in 2023. Bengaluru alone accounts for more than half of all cybercrime cases in metros, underscoring its emergence as the country’s digital crime capital.
