Liverpool’s Alexis Mac Allister was seen wearing black protective headgear after suffering an injury against Manchester United in their Premier League clash on Sunday.

What happened?

In the fourth minute, Mac Allister jumped to win an aerial duel and clashed with Bryan Mbeumo. Mac Allister immediately went down, but the referee waved play to continue.

The moment turned further controversial after Mbeumo went on to score a goal from that attacking move. Liverpool players protested the referee’s decision, claiming that the match should have been stopped because it was a head injury.

The Liverpool medical team rushed on the pitch to check Mac Allister and checked for a possible concussion, but the Argentine was cleared to carry on after putting on the said headgear.

Liverpool is currently fourth in the Premier League 2025-26 table with 15 points from eight matches. Manchester United is ninth with 13 points from the same number of outings.
