PM Surya Ghar Yojana: Solar panels are now an easy way to get relief from electricity bills. Learn how you can install panels in your flat and benefit from government subsidies through the Surya Ghar Yojana.
These days, people are troubled by rising electricity bills. They are constantly looking for new ways to reduce expenses. Now, the Government of India is also providing assistance in this regard. The government has launched the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Yojana.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Yojana, people can install solar panels on the roofs of their homes. The aim of this scheme is to connect ordinary citizens with solar energy and make them self-reliant. Under this scheme, the government provides subsidies for installing solar panels in homes.
Different wattage subsidies have been fixed for solar panels. This does not put the entire burden on people. However, under the scheme, a rooftop is required to install solar panels. Only then can you avail of this scheme.
Many people wonder if they can also benefit from this scheme if they own a flat. The answer is yes, but with certain conditions. Permission from the society or RWA is required to install solar panels in the flat.
Typically, panels are installed on the roof of a common area so that all flats can benefit together. The application process is the same for both flats and independent houses. Registration is required online at pmsuryaghar.gov.in.
After selecting the state and discom, upload the required documents. The discom team then visits the site, and upon approval, the authorized agency installs the solar panels. After approval, the installation agency determines the design and position of the panels.
The entire process is normally completed in 15 to 30 days. Your solar panel is then connected to the grid through the net metering system. You start generating your own electricity from that day onwards. The subsidy given by the government ranging from 30% to 60% is deposited directly into your bank account.
