What is sleep called in Ayurveda

In Ayurveda, sleep has been called natural at night. Natural sleep at night is essential for the balance of body and mind. When we sleep on time and get deep sleep, our body repairs itself. New cells are formed, muscles are relaxed and mental stress is reduced. If you fulfill the normal quota of sleep every day, then its effect is visible on your body. Good sleep enhances the glow of the skin, maintains energy and also increases lifespan. Along with this, if you keep the right balance of sleep in your daily routine, then the body’s digestion, heart, brain and immune system all work better.

What are the reasons for sleep disturbance?

There are many reasons which do not allow complete sleep. In this, your staying awake till late at night, sleeping untimely or sleeping for a long time during the day, all these habits harm your sleep. For this, you should sleep in a calm, comfortable environment at night and avoid oversleeping during the day. Apart from this, the best time to sleep for good sleep is 2-3 hours after sunset. At that time the body naturally starts going into a state of rest. Before sleeping, one should stay away from mobile, TV or bright lights so that the mind can calm down. Things like light music, an aroma lamp or meditation also help deepen sleep.
