In the Asia Cup Rising Star 2025, India A had to face defeat at the hands of Pakistan Shaheen in a group match. In this match played in Doha, Pakistan defeated India A by 8 wickets on the basis of all-round performance of Maaz Sadaqat. In this way, the Pakistani team registered its second consecutive win in the tournament, while the Indian team had to face its first defeat. Only Vaibhav Suryavanshi could show some wonders for Team India, who scored the maximum of 45 runs. India A's next match will now be against Oman.
In the second match of this tournament going on in Qatar, India A batted first and Vaibhav Suryavanshi once again batted stormily. The 14-year-old star opener, who played a stormy century in the last match, also targeted the Pakistani bowlers and scored 45 runs in just 28 balls, which included 5 fours and 3 sixes. Vaibhav along with Naman Dheer (35) made an excellent partnership of 49 runs. But apart from these two batsmen, other batsmen failed.
Team India lost the wicket of Vaibhav at the score of 91 runs and from here the collapse started. The next 3 wickets also fell within just 13 runs. However, during this time Ashutosh Sharma also had to suffer from the wrong decision of the umpire because there is no DRS in this tournament, due to which he could not appeal against the decision. Ultimately the entire team collapsed for just 136 runs in 19 overs. For Pakistani team, Shahid Aziz took 3 wickets and Maaz Sadaqat took 2 wickets.
After bowling, Maaz Sadaqat showed wonders with his bat and gave a stormy start to Pakistan. Other batsmen of Pakistan Shaheen kept making only minor contributions on the other side, while left-handed opener Sadaqat launched a vigorous attack. During this period, he also got a lease of life twice, once when Vaibhav Suryavanshi dropped the catch and then due to the new catching rule, he was saved from getting out the second time. Sadaqat, who scored a half-century in just 31 balls, did not leave the crease till the end and by playing an unbeaten inning of 79 runs in 47 balls, Pakistan defeated Shaheen in just 13.2 overs. With this the team reached the playoffs.
