Although her film career was short-lived her innocent expressions elegant screen presence and effortless simplicity made her unforgettable for audiences of the late 90s and early 2000s. Who is Kirti Reddy and how did she enter the film industry? Kirti Reddy belonged to a family deeply rooted in creativity. Born on 17 November 1978 in Hyderabad she grew up surrounded by art design and culture. Her mother worked as a fashion and interior designer and several of her relatives were also associated with creative professions. Her grandfather Kesarpalli Ganga Reddy was a Member of Parliament from Telangana which meant the family remained active socially and culturally. Kirti spent her childhood in Bengaluru where she completed her schooling. Dance was her first love and she trained in Bharatanatyam for nearly eight years. This classical grounding later reflected in her poised body language and graceful screen aura. What made her debut unusual? While most actresses of the 90s entered cinema through romantic or glamorous roles Kirti Reddy’s debut was refreshingly different.
