Synopsis

The NDA secured dominant victories in Bihar's assembly elections, particularly in constituencies with the highest winning margins, with the JD(U) and BJP achieving significant leads. In contrast, the closest races were more fragmented, featuring wins from various parties including the JD(U) and RJD by very narrow margins, highlighting the NDA's overall strong performance against the Mahagathbandhan.

The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) dominated contests in Bihar’s assembly elections on seats that saw the highest winning margins, while the closest races were scattered across parties, according to official data.

Among the constituencies with the widest victory gaps, Rupauli topped the list. The Janata Dal (United) clinched the seat with a commanding margin of 73,572 votes, leaving the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) a distant second.

In Digha, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured a decisive win with a margin of 59,079 votes, defeating the CPI(ML)(L) candidate. The LJP (Ram Vilas) followed with another strong performance in Sugauli, where its nominee prevailed by 58,191 votes, beating the Janshakti Janta Dal candidate.

Gopalpur recorded a winning margin of 58,135 votes as the JD(U) outpaced its nearest rival from the VSIP. In Aurai, the BJP notched a victory margin of 57,206 votes, again with the VSIP finishing second.

In stark contrast, the tightest contests painted a more fragmented picture, with winners emerging from the BJP, BSP, JD(U) and RJD.

The narrowest victory came from Sandesh, where the JD(U) edged past the RJD by just 27 votes. Ramgarh saw another cliffhanger as the BSP defeated the BJP by 30 votes in a fluctuating, high-tension contest.

The results overall underscored the NDA’s dominance across the state, as the alliance decisively outperformed the Mahagathbandhan, dealing a setback to both the Congress and its partner, the RJD.
