If you're looking to deck the halls on a shoestring budget this Christmas, Dragons Den star Sara Davies has the perfect solution for creating a homemade festive wreath.
The entrepreneur took to Facebook to share her trick, which utilises an item most people already have at home. "So I'm pretty sure everyone has an old wire coat hanger lurking in the back of their wardrobe somewhere," she began in a video. "Well... I have got the best way to use it to make the most gorgeous Christmas wreath while using up all your leftover baubles!"
"All you need to do is split the coat hanger and bend it into a circle shape for the wreath," the BBC personality explained, adding that wrapping it around her waist helped to create a suitably-sized loop.
Next, she suggests simply threading on your baubles - no specific pattern or order is necessary. "Just pop them on randomly in any sizes and colours you like," she continued. "Once the wire is completely full of baubles and you're happy with how it looks, twist the wire back together and then I just added a bow at the top to finish it off. The wire will make a really nice wreath-shape."
Sara also recommends "concealing" the top with a bow. "And... there you have it!" she exclaimed, giving her followers a glimpse of her completed creation.
"Is that not the best Christmas wreath ever?" Sara pondered. "It's so cheap, quick and easy to make, but look how fabulous it is. I am totally obsessed - and it's a bold claim, but this might be one of my favourite ever Christmas crafts. And honestly... I think this year's version might be even better than last year's!"
Writing in response, One Facebook user shared an additional tip: "Lovely wreath. Just an FYI, glue the top of the baubles (ornaments) the top part where you put the wire thru, because they have a tendency to come off, ruining the wreath."
A second person agreed: "I've made these before. Learned it's best to glue the tops to the baubles first." A third enthused: "Haven't got wire hangers, but I'm now on the hunt for some. It's a brilliant idea. Could make a few for the kids. bedrooms."
Whilst a fourth Facebook user joked: "If I put the coat hanger around my waist to make the circle I'm going to need a hell of a lot more baubles than that!"
Sara first entered the BBC Den in 2019 and during her time she has helped a range of budding entrepreneurs with her expertise. Last month, however, she announced that she will be 'stepping away' from the hit show to focus on her own business.
She wrote on Instagram at the time: "As this last run of Dragons' comes to an end I have to say I've loved every minute of this series so far and I'm so proud of the businesses I've invested in this year! As a lot of you will know, I've taken up my position again as CEO of Crafter's Companion and my business is my big priority this year. And when I commit to a business, I really commit, which is why I find Dragons' Den such a rewarding role."
She continued: "As well as filming an incredible show, being a Dragon requires so much dedication and time behind the scenes as you join the life of each business you invest in.
"It means seeing through your investment and committing to your part in that organisation. It's so much more than a TV show. That's why taken the decision to step away from the Den for now, to focus on my own business, which was my first baby! So I won't be filming with the team this year for the next series."
