Tom Read Wilson's friend has set the record straight after recent I'm A Celebrity confusion.

The Celebs Go Dating star arrived in the jungle as a late arrival alongside Vogue Williams last week, with the pair soon forming close friendships in camp.

Shortly after his arrival, Tom quickly sparked reaction to his accent and extravagant vocabulary. "Everything you say sounds so expensive," his co-star Aitch previously told him.

Every morning in camp, Tom and Ruby Wax notably recite Shakespeare to each other, with fans questioning whether Tom is being "authentic".

Now, Paul C Brunson has set the record straight on his friend as he appeared on ITV's This Morning on Thursday (November 27).

"He's mesmerising, you can't take your eyes off Tom Read Wilson," he told hosts Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard.

Ben then asked: "You first met him on Celebs Go Dating. What were your first impressions of him?" with Paul candidly replying: "Is this guy real?"

Cat added: "I think that went through the whole audience's head as well."

Paul went on: "Yeah, absolutely. You're wondering is the accent is real, are the mannerisms are real, and quickly I found out they are real. He is being authentic 100% of the time."

After seeing Tom break down in tears during last night's show, the relationship expert continued: "When we think about home, home is not company, but it is safety.

"It's probably what everyone's missing. They're missing that routine, they're missing that safety. And without it, their emotional vulnerability goes up."

Paul added: "My concern was never him at an event or him eating something. It was always the fact that he would feel he was disappointing or hurting someone. So, when he goes in late and has to make these assignments, he doesn't want to hurt anyone's feelings. He's an empath, so that would be the challenging bit for him.

"He is one of my best friends, but we don't talk about the industry together... So, literally we were exchanging voicenotes the night before he left and I'm so thankful I was able to tell him all the things I love about him. I'm glad he walked in [with that]."

After losing a challenge against his rival Ruby, Tom is currently living in Doomsville with Aitch, Shona McGarty, Martin Kemp, Kelly Brook and Eddie Kadi.
