Budget carrier Firefly Airlines on Thursday launched its first-ever direct flights from Kuala Lumpur to Cambodia’s Siem Reap province.
A Firefly Boeing 737-800 aircraft carrying 157 passengers safely landed at Siem Reap Angkor International Airport, Cambodia’s Minister of Tourism Huot Hak said in a post on his official Telegram channel as quoted by the Khmer Times.
The airline operates flights three times per week — every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.
Siem Reap in northwestern Cambodia is home to the UNESCO-listed Angkor Archaeological Park, the kingdom’s most popular tourist destination.
The park welcomed around 765,518 international tourists in the first 10 months of 2025, generating US$35.5 million in ticket revenue.
Cambodia welcomed some 4.3 million foreign tourists in the first nine months of 2025, marking an 8.8% decline compared to the same period last year, according to the Ministry of Tourism.
