'Dhurandhar' craze prompts addition of midnight shows in Mumbai, Pune

The immense popularity of the Hindi-language spy action thriller Dhurandhar has led to the addition of post-midnight shows in theaters across Maharashtra.

This decision was made after advance bookings for the film skyrocketed at both multiplexes and single-screen cinemas.

The trend is not limited to Mumbai, with Pune also joining in on the excitement by introducing late-night screenings from 12:20am onward, reported Bollywood Hungama.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the unprecedented development on X, "Dhurandhar goes round the clock... Midnight shows - commencing from 12.45am onward- have begun in #Mumbai."

"In #Pune too, shows are commencing from 12.20am onward, underlining the film's unstoppable demand."

Dhurandhar has been a commercial success since its release on December 5.

The film earned ₹53 crore over the weekend and reached a total of ₹292.75 crore by Day 9, according to Sacnilk.

Dhurandhar features a star-studded cast, including Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, Sara Arjun, and Rakesh Bedi.

The film is produced by Jio Studios and B62 Studios.

While the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has declared it a work of fiction, Dhurandhar draws inspiration from real-life events such as the 1999 Indian plane hijacking and the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks.

It's directed by Aditya Dhar.
