Ration Card KYC: The government has started taking direct action against long-standing irregularities in the public distribution system. To ensure that the ration provided under the National Food Security Act reaches the right hands, the Food and Consumer Protection Department has decided to launch a special campaign.
Officers will be deployed, and investigations will be conducted through the camps
Following government directives, investigations will now be conducted on-site, not just based on paperwork. From December 17th to December 30th, 2025, physical verification of ration card-related matters will be conducted through camps at the sub-divisional level. The process of removing entries found to be incorrect or suspicious from the system will begin.
Aadhaar linking is now mandatory
The most important part of this campaign is e-KYC. The department has made it clear that beneficiaries whose Aadhaar verification is not complete may face difficulties in receiving rations in the future. Therefore, the administration has been instructed to disseminate this information to villages and neighborhoods so that no eligible family is left out.
Eligible families will receive full benefits
At the government level, it is believed that this exercise will automatically reveal fake or ineligible names. This will reduce the burden on the ration system, and families who actually need food grains will receive timely and full benefits.
Important things to know about e-KYC
What does e-KYC mean?
It is a digital process in which the ration card is linked to Aadhaar for biometric identification. Ration may be stopped if verification is not completed.
Where and how to get e-KYC done
Go to your nearest ration shop and show your ration card and Aadhaar cards of all family members to the dealer. The process will be completed by taking a fingerprint or eye scan using a POS machine. The operator at the block or sub-divisional office will update the e-KYC based on the Aadhaar and ration card.
This facility will also be available at special camps organized at the panchayat or municipal level.
Important points to note:
Verification of every family member is mandatory. The name and date of birth recorded in Aadhaar must be correct. If fingerprints cannot be obtained, the iris scan option is available. Assistance can be sought from the ration dealer, block supply office, or the helpline issued at the district level.
