The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme remains one of the most important welfare initiatives launched by the central government to support farmers’ incomes across India. Under this flagship scheme, eligible farmers receive financial assistance of ₹6,000 per year, credited directly to their bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
So far, the government has successfully released 21 installments under the PM-KISAN scheme. Now, millions of farmers across the country are eagerly waiting for the 22nd installment. Here is everything you need to know about its expected release date, eligibility rules, e-KYC requirements, and how to check your beneficiary status.
According to reports, the 22nd installment of PM Kisan is likely to be released in February 2026. However, the government has not yet announced an official release date. Farmers are therefore advised to complete all mandatory formalities well in advance to avoid any delays in receiving the payment.
The 21st installment was released on November 19, 2025, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi transferred nearly ₹18,000 crore to the bank accounts of over 9 crore farmers during an event in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. Since the launch of the scheme, the government has transferred more than ₹4 lakh crore directly to farmers nationwide.
Under the PM-KISAN scheme, farmers receive ₹2,000 every four months, which means three installments in a year:
April to July
August to November
December to March
This structure ensures that farmers receive steady financial support throughout the year, helping them manage agricultural and household expenses.
Launched in 2019 during the Interim Budget, PM-KISAN has grown into one of the largest DBT-based welfare schemes in the world. The primary objective of the scheme is to supplement the financial needs of farmers and support agricultural activities, especially for small and marginal landholders.
The money is transferred directly to beneficiaries’ bank accounts, ensuring transparency and eliminating middlemen.
To receive benefits under the PM-KISAN scheme, farmers must meet the following eligibility conditions:
Must be a citizen of India
Must own cultivable agricultural land in their name
Should be a small or marginal farmer
Must not be an income tax payer
Should not be an institutional landholder
Retired individuals receiving a monthly pension of ₹10,000 or more are not eligible
Failure to meet any of these criteria can result in installment payments being stopped.
Completing e-KYC is mandatory to continue receiving PM-Kisan installments. Without e-KYC, the payment may be withheld.
Farmers can complete e-KYC in two ways:
Online OTP-based e-KYC through the PM-Kisan portal
Biometric e-KYC by visiting the nearest CSC (Common Service Centre)
Ensuring timely e-KYC completion is crucial to receive the 22nd installment without interruption.
