Punjab News: Families rendered homeless by the massive floods in Punjab got new hope on Sunday when renowned music artist Badshah, in collaboration with Sikh Aid Foundation, handed over the keys of permanent houses to the flood-affected families.

The King himself was present at the program organized in Ajnala and met the beneficiary families and handed over the keys of their new houses. During this, local people, volunteers and representatives associated with relief work were also present.

The unprecedented floods in the last monsoon had caused massive devastation in many districts of Punjab. The homes, farming and livelihoods of thousands of families were completely destroyed. In the initial relief, arrangements for food and treatment were made, but the lack of a permanent roof remained the biggest concern.

Under this initiative, fully constructed pucca houses were provided to families who had lost everything in the floods. These homes have been designed keeping in mind future natural disasters, so that families can start a safe life.

Speaking at the event, Badshah said, “Punjab has given me an identity. When the people here are in trouble, it is our responsibility to stand with them. These houses are not just bricks and stones, but a symbol of respect, security and new beginnings.”

A beneficiary who received a house said, “After the flood, we thought everything was over. Now the children have a roof over their heads and life can begin again.”

Another beneficiary said, “It is not just the house, it is the return of our self-respect.”

In collaboration with Sikh Aid Foundation, this initiative was implemented at the local level, so that help can reach the right and most needy families. Organizers said that this effort shows that after a disaster, not only relief but also rehabilitation is equally important.

Badshah expressed confidence of continuing to stand with the flood affected people of Punjab and appealed to others to come forward and contribute in the reconstruction.
