Nissan Price Hike News: Nissan has announced a significant update for Indian car buyers with a price revision for its popular compact SUV, the Magnite. The Japanese automaker has confirmed that prices for the Magnite will increase by up to 3 percent starting January 1, 2026. This revision will be applicable across all variants of the SUV, impacting both entry-level and top-end trims. At present, the Nissan Magnite is priced between Rs 5.61 lakh and Rs 10.90 lakh (ex-showroom), making it one of the most affordable SUVs in its segment.
With the upcoming revision, customers planning to buy the Magnite in 2026 will need to factor in higher costs. After the price hike comes into effect, the base variant of the SUV will be priced at approximately Rs 5.78 lakh (ex-showroom). On the other end of the spectrum, the fully loaded top-spec variant is expected to cost around Rs 11.23 lakh (ex-showroom). This translates to a maximum increase of nearly Rs 33,000, depending on the variant.
The increase reflects rising input costs and overall market conditions, which have affected several automakers operating in India. Despite the revision, the Magnite is still expected to remain competitively priced in the compact SUV category, especially considering its feature list, styling, and value-oriented positioning.
Currently, the Magnite is the only product Nissan offers in the Indian passenger vehicle market. Since its launch, the SUV has played a crucial role in maintaining the brand’s presence in the country. It has been well received for its bold design, efficient engines, and accessible pricing, especially among first-time car buyers and urban consumers.
Given that the Magnite is Nissan’s sole offering, any price change directly impacts the brand’s sales performance and market perception. However, Nissan appears confident that the product’s strengths will continue to attract customers even after the revised pricing takes effect.
Beyond the Magnite, Nissan is actively working on expanding its product portfolio in India. The company aims to strengthen its market position by introducing new models tailored to Indian consumer preferences. According to insights shared by Saurabh Vats, Managing Director of Nissan India, the brand plans to launch two new vehicles in 2026.
One of the upcoming products is an affordable 7-seater MPV, which will be known as the Nissan Gravite. This model is expected to cater to family-oriented buyers looking for space, practicality, and value. The Gravite has already been unveiled, generating interest among customers who are seeking alternatives in the MPV segment.
In addition to the MPV, Nissan is also preparing to launch a new compact SUV called the Nissan Tekton. The Tekton was unveiled earlier this year and is positioned to strengthen Nissan’s presence in the highly competitive compact SUV space. With this model, the brand aims to appeal to younger buyers and those seeking a modern design combined with advanced features.
The introduction of the Tekton and Gravite indicates Nissan’s long-term commitment to the Indian market. These launches are expected to reduce the brand’s dependence on a single model and help it compete more effectively with rivals offering wider product line-ups.
For prospective buyers, the price hike on the Magnite suggests that purchasing the SUV before January 2026 could be financially beneficial. On the other hand, those willing to wait may find more options from Nissan in the coming years, especially with the arrival of the new MPV and compact SUV.
Overall, Nissan’s pricing update and future product plans highlight a phase of transition and growth for the brand in India, aimed at balancing affordability with expansion and long-term sustainability.
