This is the reason why every year lakhs of devotees reach Tirupati Balaji Temple in Andhra Pradesh to have darshan of Lord Venkateswara. Which god is worshiped in Tirupati temple?

Lord Venkateshwara is mainly worshiped in Tirupati Balaji temple, who is considered to be an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. He is also known by many other names.

Venkateswara: It means the God who destroys sins.

Balaji: In North India, devotees call him by this name.

Saptagirishwar: Also known as the lord of seven hills.

Srinivas and Govinda: Both of these are very popular names of Lord Venkateswara worshiped in Tirupati.

How to reach Tirupati Temple?

Tirupati is well connected to all the major cities of the country, where you can come from any part of the country.

By Air: Renigunta Airport, officially known as Tirupati Airport, is about 15 km from the temple.

By Rail: Tirupati railway station is connected to big cities of the country. Apart from this, Renigunta Junction is also a major stop.

By Road: Regular buses run from cities of Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. Government buses and taxis are available all the time from Tirupati to Tirumala hills.

Darshan timings and rules

Where to get clothes from? If you accidentally did not carry clothes with you, there are many shops on Tirumala hill and in Tirupati town from where you can buy dhoti or dupatta.

What is the arrangement for VIP darshan?

In view of the huge crowd on special occasions like New Year, there may be changes in the rules for VIP darshan.

Special Entry Darshan:

It has to be booked at least 2-3 months in advance through the official website of TTD (ttdevasthanams.ap.gov.in). It takes 2-5 hours for darshan.

Vaikuntha Gate Darshan: During the New Year (late December to the first week of January) the Vaikuntha gates are opened, which is considered very auspicious. For this slots have to be booked in advance.

If you are traveling with children or the elderly, Tirupati has excellent facilities.

free meal: Thousands of devotees are served free Satvik food every day at Annaprasadam Complex.

Free Transportation: Free buses named Dharma Rath are available from Tirupati Railway Station to visit the bus stand and inside Tirumala.

For children: Children below 12 years of age do not require separate tickets.

For the elderly and disabled: There are separate queues and seating arrangements for them, which can be accessed through special passes.
