Guru Pradosh 2026 Date Subh Muhurat And Significance: In Sanatan Dharma, Pradosh fast is observed on the Trayodashi date of every month. One Pradosh fast is observed on Trayodashi of Shukla Paksha and the other on Trayodashi of Krishna Paksha. Pradosh fast is dedicated to Lord Shiva. On this day Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati are worshiped during Pradosh period. Pradosh Vrat is named according to the day of the week on which it falls.

Pradosh fast is very fruitful. By observing this fast one gets special blessings of Lord Shiva. Happiness remains in the house. All the troubles of life go away. Problems ranging from money to marriage get solved. After death one gets a place at the feet of Shiva. The first fast of the year 2026 is falling on January 1st. This day will be Thursday.

Date of Pradosh Vrat 2026 (Guru Pradosh 2026)

According to Drik Panchang, Trayodashi Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Paush month will start on Wednesday, 31st December 2025 at 1:48 AM after midnight. At the same time, Trayodashi Tithi will end the next day i.e. 1 January 2026, Thursday, at 10:23 pm. In such a situation, according to Udayatithi, the first Pradosh Vrat of the year 2026 will be observed on January 1.

Importance of Guru Pradosh Vrat (Guru Pradosh Significance)

Whenever Pradosh fast falls on Thursday, it is known as Guru Pradosh. Guru Pradosh is also called Brihaspati Pradosh. Guru Pradosh Vrat is important for spiritual progress and attainment of religious knowledge. By fasting on Guru Pradosh one gets knowledge, education, wealth, religion and happiness and prosperity. According to the Puranas, if a person visits the idol of Lord Shiva with an offering in the night of Trayodashi, then all the troubles of his life go away.
