The Traitors hasn't even started yet - and I already 'know' who's going to win

The Traitors is set to make an epic return to BBC One this evening for a third UK season, with host Claudia Winkleman at the helm once again. The aim of the game is for the selected Traitors to lie and deceive to make the Faithfuls believe that they are one of them - and if they finish the mission successfully, without getting banished from the Castle then they are declared the winner and bag themselves a hefty cash prize.

As a superfan of the series, I think that I already know who will win before the show has even aired. Looking at past series, from all over the world as well as the UK, I think that one of the Traitors will already have it in the bag, yet again. And I also think that it will be an original Traitor, rather than one who has been recruited and more than likely will be a female. My reasoning for thinking this is because, around the world, Traitors win more often across all global versions (over 50 series in total), with Faithfuls winning roughly 17 times compared to Traitors' 31 wins.

However, in the UK, there has been quite a mix, with Faithfuls winning the first series and a Traitor winning the second, showing shifts in power.

But then the Celebrity version happened, putting the Traitors on top once more as Alan Carr hilariously outwitted all of his fellow castmates to be declared the winner.

According to one user on Reddit, who compiled a list of statistics, there have been 30 female winners and 25 male overall, with 14 of those females and 10 of those men being Traitors.

Of those Traitors, nine women were original Traitors, as were six men, while all of the others were recruited.

Therefore, overall, it seems that being a woman who is an original traitor is the most successful on the show. And it comes as no surprise as Traitors have an inherent advantage through secret knowledge, making it difficult for the majority Faithfuls to identify them.

However, for the new series a major new twist has been confirmed - which could help to skewer the stats.

To keep their anonymity under wraps, the Traitors are usually seen wearing dark, hooded cloaks as they sneak through the castle grounds.

However, during a trailer in the lead-up to the series, which is due to air on New Year's Day, eagle-eyed viewers noticed a Traitor wearing a red cape instead of the usual green.

The host, Claudia Winkleman, has confirmed that maybe the red cloak teaser does mean more than meets the eye.

She said: "All I will say is there's something new, and what happens in this series is truly extraordinary with moments that made me gasp."
