With the aim of welfare of tribal students, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) signed an MoU with National Scheduled Tribe Finance and Development Corporation (NSTFDC). This agreement has been signed for tribal students studying in Eklavya Model Residential Schools.
Under this, ONGC will strengthen the infrastructure of schools with its corporate social responsibility fund. The MoU was signed at a program organized at Dr. Ambedkar International Center on Monday (January 5). The MoU was signed by Bismita Das, Deputy General Manager, NSTFDC and Dr. Debasis Mukherjee, CSR Head, ONGC.

On this occasion, Secretary, Ministry of Tribal Affairs Ranjana Chopra, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Tribal Affairs Manish Thakur, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Tribal Affairs Anant Prakash Pandey, CMD NSTFDC Rumuan Paite, Director Human Resources, ONGC Manish Patil and senior officials of other ministries and ONGC were present.
The main objectives of this initiative include improving digital education facilities, providing career guidance and mentorship to students, training of teachers, providing health and hygiene facilities (such as sanitary pad vending machines and incinerators) to girl students. ONGC has sanctioned Rs 28 crore for this project.

This scheme will be implemented in 144 Eklavya model schools located in 11 states and union territories. This will benefit more than 35,000 tribal students. At present 499 Eklavya Model Residential Schools are functioning across the country. Their objective is to provide quality education and a better future to tribal students.
