Ashton-in-Makerfield LIVE: Road blocked after 'serious incident' involving children on bus

Emergency services swarmed a street in a UK town following a serious incident involving schoolchildren. An air ambulance, as well as police officers and paramedics were called to Bolton Road in Ashton-in-Makerfield on Wednesday, January 7.

Greater Manchester Police said in a statement three high school pupils are believed to have fallen through a window on the top deck of a school bus on Bolton Road. The statement added: "They have all been taken to hospital and have potentially serious injuries." Bolton Road was temporarily closed as emergency services attended the scene. It has since been reopened, the MEN reports. Inspector Simon Barrie of the Wigan District called the event "a serious incident that will cause disruption".
