Premanand Maharaj’s real name is Anirudh Kumar Pandey. He was born in Kanpur. Premanand Maharaj had deep interest in devotion and spirituality since childhood. He started his spiritual journey by taking initiation at the age of just 13.
After starting his spiritual journey, Premanand Maharaj joined the Radha Vallabh sect. After this, he became blissfully celibate from Anirudh Pandey. Later he came to Mathura-Vrindavan. He decided to devote his life to the devotion of Radha-Krishna.
He served in Banke Bihari temple of Mathura. After this, Radhavallabh temple of Vrindavan became the holy place of Premanand Maharaj. Here he followed Gaurangi Sharan Maharaj for 10 years and also took initiation into Shri Radha Radhavallabhi sect, after which his name became Premanand Govind Sharan i.e. Premanand Maharaj.
