The temple is named after the great poet-saint Goswami Tulsidas, who composed Ramcharitmanas in this same Kashi (Varanasi). It is believed that the place where Tulsi Manas Temple is situated today is the sacred place where Tulsidas ji used to sit and write Ramcharitmanas in Awadhi language.
