Ireland announces squad for T20 World Cup – Tezzbuzz

Dublin, Jan 10: Ireland has named its 15-player squad for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, scheduled to be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka from February 7 to March 8, 2026. Paul Stirling will lead the team as captain, with Lorcan Tucker appointed as his deputy.

The squad includes a blend of experienced campaigners and promising talents. Stirling, Ireland’s most prolific T20 batsman, will captain the side in their ninth appearance at the global event. Twelve of the 15 selected players featured in the previous edition of the tournament, while new additions like Tim Tector, Ben Calitz and Matthew Humphreys strengthen the unit.
Ireland has been placed in Group B, alongside Sri Lanka, Australia, Oman and Zimbabwe. Their World Cup campaign begins against hosts Sri Lanka in Colombo on February 8.

The team is optimistic about improving on past performances and hopes to make a strong impact in a competitive group stage.
