There was chaos at Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport when the wings of two planes of Air India and Indigo Airlines collided with each other. This incident occurred during ground movement. According to the information, the Air India aircraft was in the pushback process for take-off. Whereas the Indigo plane was taxiing after landing. During this time there was a collision between the wings of both the planes.

The most important thing is that there were passengers on board both the planes at the time of the accident. However, it is a matter of relief that there is no news of any passenger or crew member being injured in this incident. After the incident, the concerned authorities took immediate action and stopped both the planes and ensured the safety of the passengers.

How did the collision happen?

The airport administration and the technical team of the airlines have started investigation. At present, it is being ascertained whether the collision occurred due to lapse in ATC instructions, ground handling error or technical reason. The process of sending passengers on other flights has also been started, but questions have once again arisen regarding aircraft safety.

What did Air India and Indigo say?

  • Air India said, the flight (AI2732) from Mumbai to Coimbatore collided with the aircraft of another airline while waiting on the taxiway before take-off.
