Air India has launched its first flagship lounge, The Maharaja Lounge, at Terminal 3 of Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi. This lounge offers premium travel convenience and new standards of Indian hospitality. Built on Air India's new branding and design philosophy, this lounge is a wonderful blend of tradition-inspired ambiance and modern luxury. This is the first of the modern lounges that Air India is planning to launch in the future at other airports in India and the world. The lounge will be opened in a phased manner from 16 February 2026 for Business and First Class passengers, Maharaja Club Gold and Platinum members and eligible Star Alliance members.
Designed by the world's renowned design studio Hirsch Bedner Associates (HBA), this lounge has been designed with premium interiors, soft lighting and a design matching the new identity of Air India. The artefacts displayed here tell the story of India's rich culture and heritage. The Maharaja Lounge has been divided into several sections to suit different needs, where passengers can relax or work in a tranquil environment, or choose a lively space for social interaction.
There is Aviator Bar here, where specially selected wines and whiskeys are available. Globetrotter Study is a quiet place for those who study and work. The Serenity Area has comfortable recliners. First Class also offers a Crystal Bar, spectacular views of the tarmac and exclusive sleep suites.
The lounge has live cooking stations with Indian and international cuisine. Beverage on Wheels service serves signature cocktails at your seat. Apart from this, Air India has also started a special tea program, in which passengers are served fresh tea of their choice.
Special Maharaja-designed postcards have also been kept for the passengers, which can be kept as souvenirs. Air India CEO Campbell Wilson said that the Maharaja Lounge in Delhi is an important step in Air India's transformation journey and reflects the new Air India Experience.
