A convoy of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) traveling on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway was targeted in a suicide bombing. 40 soldiers were killed in this. Since then this date is remembered as 'Black Day' in the security story of the country. There were 78 buses in the convoy. Among these, there were about 2,500 CRPF soldiers from Jammu to Srinagar.
