With Strictly Come Dancing returning to screens later this year, bosses could be eyeing up a Tess Daly look-alike to host the beloved star-studded competition. This comes after Tess and Claudia Winkleman made an emotional exit during the 2025 finale after fronting the series together for 11 years. Now, Sian Welby has joined the long list of potential candidates, reportedly lined up for consideration.

According to sources, Strictly bosses think the TV and radio presenter could be perfect for the Clauditarioum segment, where famous contestants discuss their performances and receive their scores. As well as her role on This Morning, the decision-makers are reportedly also impressed by Sian's skills on her Capital FM breakfast radio show. It's said that her strong social media presence could also influence younger viewers to tune in to Strictly, and I agree.

While Sian might be one of the lesser-known presenters on This Morning, she always brings a fresh element of excitement and passion to the programme when she's on. In addition to hosting the show alongside the likes of Dermot O'Leary, the star has also joined the famous couch to report on the latest showbiz news and led the fashion segments, and she could be just what Strictly needs.

Tess had hosted the BBC series since it first began in 2004. Claudia initially hosted Strictly's sister show, It Takes Two, before joining the main Saturday night show in 2014. Although the contestants and judges brought a fresh element of fun and anticipation to each episode, Tess and Claudia slowly but surely became boring, almost as if they were hosting on autopilot. According to an insider via The Sun, BBC bosses might also agree: "Sian might be less well-known than other names linked with Tess and Claudia's jobs so far.

"But she's got everything it takes with one special ingredient, a younger audience, thanks to her job on trendy Capital FM. Her live radio experience means she's got that off-the-cuff banter that is needed in the Clauditorium down to a tee.

"And working on This Morning ticks all the TV boxes. Execs have looked at her as someone who would be a good fit for the job," the source added.

Although other potential hosts include comic Mel Giedroyc, broadcasters Emma Willis and Zoe Ball, and Alan Carr, as well as the current It Takes Two hosts Janette Manrara and Fleur East, it would be great to see a fresh presenter on the screen and hosting one of the biggest shows on television.

In addition to her current roles, the mum-of-one began her career as a weather presenter for Channel 5 and has covered sports events for Channel 4, BT Sport and Eurosport.

The 39-year-old began work on This Morning in 2023 and has hosted the daily Capital Breakfast show since 2020.

Although Tess and Claudia's replacements have yet to be confirmed, Sian previously shared she would be interested in fronting the beloved ballroom competition and told the publication: "Yes, if they came calling, I'd obviously love that job."
