Pakistan tops the Global Terrorism Index 2026, becomes the country that spreads the most violence in the world

In the Global Terrorism Index (GTI) of the year 2026, Pakistan has been described as the most terrorism affected country in the world. In this list, Pakistan has left behind countries like Burkina Faso, Niger, Nigeria and Mali. The continuously increasing terrorist incidents and internal instability inside Pakistan have become a big challenge. Despite this, Pakistan's military leadership is also paying attention to the regional situation, especially regarding the possible conflict related to Iran.

Increase in terrorist incidents

According to the Global Terrorism Index, more than 245 terrorist incidents have been recorded in Pakistan between January 1 and March 22, 2026. This does not include the Durand Line and the border conflict with Afghanistan.

Huge loss to civilians and soldiers

So far, more than 270 civilians have died in these incidents. At the same time, more than 410 Pakistani security forces personnel have also been killed in different attacks. Apart from terrorist organizations, activities of Afghan Taliban and Baloch militant groups are also said to be involved in these attacks.

The figure may increase by the end of the year

It has been estimated in the report that if the situation continues like this, then by the end of the year 2026, 1600 to 1700 security personnel of Pakistan may lose their lives.

Keep an eye on regional tensions too

On one hand, the security situation inside Pakistan remains challenging, on the other hand, it is also keeping an eye on regional tensions, especially the situation related to Iran. Increasing terrorist incidents and internal instability are becoming a big challenge for Pakistan. Everyone is keeping an eye on which direction the situation will take in the coming months.
