When BJP candidate Vikas Sardar was campaigning on Thursday afternoon, violence suddenly broke out in Basanti Bazaar. BJP says that some goons of Trinamool Congress attacked their rally. During this period, two motorcycles were also vandalized.
BJP has alleged that all this happened in the presence of the police and the police did nothing to stop the attackers. After this incident, there is tension in the entire area and heavy police force has been deployed.
BJP candidate Sardar said that due to fear of defeat, Trinamool Congress is now resorting to terrorism. Despite seeing everything with their own eyes, the police remained a silent spectator. However, Trinamool Congress has denied these allegations. This incident has created a lot of tension in the area, but no arrests have been made so far. Police have been deployed in the area to keep the situation under control.
However, the Sub-Inspector of Basanti Police Station is also reported to have been injured in this incident. It is being told that some people wearing lungi surrounded him and started beating him with bamboo sticks. The police officer had to somehow run away to save his life. The name of the victim police officer is Saurabh Guha, who is a sub-inspector at Basanti police station.
It is alleged that this attack happened during the election campaign. The situation became tense. As soon as the information was received, the police reached the spot. Barbarai Basanti is a sensitive area. Incidents of violence happen here every time during elections. But after such incidents of policemen being beaten on the road, it is natural to raise questions on security. Trinamool state vice president Jaiprakash Majumdar said, "There are some rules, they have to be followed. BJP is not a party of landlords. The police is completely under the Election Commission.
