This time a new chapter of technology is going to be added in the Indian Premier League (IPL), which will not be limited only to the performance of the players. From Jasprit Bumrah’s yorkers to Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s batting, every movement will now be tracked by Artificial Intelligence (AI) and smart sensors. With this technology the audience will get a unique experience, never seen before.
The new AI-enhanced DRS system is now capable of capturing voice nuances in real-time. Noise filtering technology has been used in it, due to which the real edge will not be hidden even amidst the hustle and bustle of the stadium. This will bring more accuracy in disputed decisions, which will increase the fairness of the game.
Broadcasters will now use 3D pitch view technology to show viewers how the pitch changes from over to over. Additionally, sensors installed in the ball will provide data on its speed, spin and movement. Jasprit Bumrah’s yorker or Yuzvendra Chahal’s googly can now be seen not only with eyes but also through statistics.
Teams will no longer rely solely on experience, but also on predictive win-probability algorithms. This system will show the pressure index of the match and help the viewers understand what are the chances of which team will win.
Wearable Player Analytics sensors fitted in players’ clothing will provide data on their heart rate, fatigue and injury risk. At the same time, AI-powered cameras installed in the stadium will monitor the crowd and issue alerts before any untoward incident. Sub-Air Drainage Systems have been installed in rainy grounds, so that the game can be started sooner.
