Akshay Kumar’s highly awaited reunion with Priyadarshan after 16 years, the horror comedy Bhooth Bangla was slated for April 10, 2026.

However, now a new report has claimed that the makers have delayed the movie by a week to avoid Dhurandhar: The Revenge box office storm.

Dhurandhar: The Revenge released in theatres on March 19, 2026, and Bhooth Bangla was supposed to come out on April 10, 2026, i.e. three weeks after the Ranveer Singh starrer.

However, considering Dhurandhar: The Revenge’s box office storm, it may trouble Bhooth Bangla even in its week three.

Sharing the same, a source told Variety India, “The producers of Bhooth Bangla realized the challenges in taking on the Ranveer Singh-starrer. And it’s a good business decision. It’s a win for the producers as well as the industry. Even Toxic had avoided a clash with the Aditya Dhar directorial. There should be no ego involved in such decisions. Ektaa's mom Shobha Kapoor fully supports this decision.”

Bhooth Bangla will now release a week later on April 17, 2026. Earlier, Salman Khan’s Maatrubhoomi was slated for April 17 release but that movie has now been delayed indefinitely.

Sharing further, the source added, “The postponement of Bhooth Bangla was driven purely by the need for breathing space at the box office. The trailer launch of the film, initially scheduled for March 30, now stands cancelled for the time being, with new plans of unveiling it in the first week of April.”

Besides Akshay Kumar, Bhooth Bangla also stars Tabu, Wamiqa Gabbi, Paresh Rawal, Rajesh Sharma, Rajpal Yadav and the late legend Asrani.
