Jurgen Klopp will make his return to Liverpool on Saturday afternoon as the German heads back to the Anfield dugout. Klopp will manage the Liverpool legends alongside Sir Kenny Dalglish as they face Borussia Dortmund in a charity fixture. The 58-year-old departed Anfield in 2024 following a triumphant nine-year spell during which he secured considerable silverware. This encompassed the Champions League and the Premier League along with a host of domestic trophies.

Klopp's departure was devastating for Reds supporters as they said goodbye to a modern icon at Anfield. His wife, Ulla, was also bidding farewell to a place she had considered home. The pair have been wed since 2005 and Ulla devoted time, energy and resources to the local community she lived in while Klopp was Liverpool boss.

Klopp's wife made a "substantial" contribution to the Formby Community Football Club during the coronavirus pandemic and ensuing lockdown in 2020.

These resources enabled food and medicine to be provided to those who were experiencing hardship across the city.

Ulla became a cornerstone of the community alongside her husband after contributing £1,000 worth of food vouchers at a Waitrose in Formby as gratitude to staff.

It's understood that 20 individual £50 vouchers were distributed to staff who were on duty at the time Ulla visited the store.

It was actually Ulla who persuaded Klopp to remain at Liverpool when he put pen to paper on a contract extension in 2022.

At the time, the German quipped that he was being a "good husband" by committing to a deal running through to 2026, despite originally intending to depart in 2024.

On the Liverpool X account, Klopp said: "There's something to announce. Like last time some will like it, some will not like it too much. If you don't like it, stop watching now. I stay for another two years... and only me.

"No, all my coaches will as well, which is the most important actually. Why? Is now the question. Because Ulla wants to stay and as a good husband what are you doing when your wife wants to stay? You are staying."

He went on to say: "The most important contract I signed in my life was the one with Ulla. And that's why it start again, because actually we sat at the kitchen table and Ulla said: 'I can't see us leaving in 2024'.

"I said: 'What?' That's how it all started and when that started I thought: 'Let's have a think'."

While Klopp did ultimately leave in 2024, handing the reigns at Anfield over to Arne Slot, he will make a glorious return on Saturday afternoon alongside a host of fellow Reds legends - amongst whom may well be his wife Ulla.
