Maharashtra Board: In a significant policy shift, the Board has decided to issue mark sheets and certificates for Class 10 (SSC) and Class 12 (HSC) in a single, combined document, which will feature both a photograph and a QR code.

There is major news for lakhs of students across Maharashtra. This time, the Board has made a decision that will put an end to the long and often troublesome wait associated with receiving mark sheets and certificates. The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) has decided that, henceforth, students of Class 10 (SSC) and Class 12 (HSC) will no longer receive their mark sheets and certificates separately; instead, they will be provided in a single, unified document.

The new combined mark sheet will include the student’s photograph as well as a QR code. This QR code will make the verification of the document’s authenticity both easier and more secure. By scanning this QR code using the Board’s official mobile app, anyone can instantly verify the authenticity of the mark sheet. This measure is expected to curb instances of fraudulent mark sheets and expedite the verification process.

Until now, the standard procedure was that students would receive only their mark sheets immediately after the examination results were declared. The actual certificates would typically be issued approximately six months after the event. Neither of these documents previously featured the student’s photograph nor offered any facility for digital verification. Consequently, verifying the authenticity of these documents often proved to be a time-consuming and cumbersome process.

Results to be Released Soon

The Board is currently gearing up to announce the results for the SSC (Class 10) and HSC (Class 12) examinations shortly. Based on trends observed in previous years, the results are typically released during the first or second week of May. It is anticipated that this year, the Class 12 results will be declared first, followed by the Class 10 results. Coinciding with the declaration of results, this new combined mark sheet will be made available online for students to download.

A Check on Fraudulent Activities

Cases involving fraudulent mark sheets were frequently reported in the past, and verifying their authenticity often consumed a considerable amount of time. With the introduction of the QR code, this verification process can now be completed in a matter of seconds. Upon scanning the code using the Board’s mobile app, the student’s complete details will be instantly displayed. This will significantly reduce the likelihood of fraud.

Format of the New Marksheet

In the new marksheet, the student’s name will be printed exactly as it appears on their Aadhaar card. Previously, the naming convention differed, with the surname, student’s name, and father’s name appearing in a different sequence. This process has now been simplified and standardized to prevent any future discrepancies. With the inclusion of a photograph and a QR code, this marksheet will be considered more reliable and secure. Colleges, universities, or any other institution will be able to scan it to verify its authenticity instantly.

How to Check Your Result

To view their results, students must have their roll number and date of birth ready. Once the results are released, students will need to visit the Board’s official website and enter this information. Subsequently, the marksheet will appear on the screen, from where it can also be downloaded.
