LSG vs DC: Lucknow Super Giants captain Rishabh Pant has proved to be a flop in his very first match of IPL 2026. Pant was run out after scoring just 7 runs against his old team Delhi Capitals. There was silence on the field as soon as he was out.

Opened for Lucknow

In this match played at Ekana Stadium, Delhi Capitals captain Akshar Patel won the toss and invited the Lucknow team to bat first. Mitchell Marsh and captain Rishabh Pant came to open for Lucknow. Fans were hopeful that Pant would give a strong start to Delhi, but it could not happen. Pant’s disappointing performance for Delhi continued in his first match of IPL 2026. Pant was out after scoring only 7 runs against his old team.

Run out against Delhi

During Lucknow’s innings, Mukesh Kumar came to bowl the third over for Delhi. On the last ball of this over, Marsh played the ball towards the front. During this, the ball touched Mukesh’s hand and directly hit the stump at the non-striker end. During this, Pant was ahead of the crease, due to which he was run out.

Last season was also a flop

In the IPL 2025 mega auction, Lucknow Super Giants bought Rishabh Pant for Rs 27 crore. After being sold at such a high price, fans were hopeful that Pant would impress everyone with his performance. However this could not happen. Last season, he scored only 269 runs in 13 innings of 14 matches, which included 1 century and 1 half-century. Last season, Pant returned to the pavilion against Delhi Capitals without opening his account. Now his flop show continued in his very first match of IPL 2026.
