Police and paramedics swarm Whitstable street as teenager dies

A murder probe has been launched after a teenager died with injuries "consistent with stab wounds", police have said. Kent Police was called at 2.04am on Friday, April 3, 2026, to reports of a serious assault on Belmont Road in Whitstable.

Officers, paramedics and an air ambulance attended the scene where a 19-year-old boy was found with injuries consistent with stab wounds. According to Kent Online, the air ambulance is reported to have landed about 3am on nearby Westmeads Recreation Ground. Despite efforts to save him, the teenager was confirmed dead at the scene. Kent police has now launched murder investigation as a forensics tent remains in place next to the Windsor House flats block on the road. A spokesperson for the force said: "Kent Police was called at 2.04am on Friday 3 April 2026 to reports of a serious assault on Belmont Road, Whitstable.Officers and paramedics attended and a 19 year old boy sustained injuries consistent with stab wounds. He was confirmed deceased at the scene."

Speaking to KentOnline, one resident of Belmont Road said they woke to find "loads of police" in the street, adding, "the road is completely closed and I think it'll stay shut all day."

"Officers are going in and out of the red and white tent."

The road remains cordoned off by police and is expected to remain closed for a number of hours.
